"My Wrists Don't Hurt Anymore": Rae's in-Motion Story

Rae has used forearm crutches most of her life. Here's how in-Motion spring-assisted crutches ended her wrist pain.

Rae Putnam using in-motion forearm crutches

We love hearing from people who rely on their crutches every day.

Rae Putnam is one of them. She has used forearm crutches for most of her life, and she was kind enough to share her story with us in her own words.

Disclosure: Rae is an in-Motion affiliate. Her words are her own.

Growing up on forearm crutches

"I have used forearm crutches for most of my life. I was born with Spina Bifida, a defect where my spine didn't form properly. From this, I have limited nerves and muscles in my legs."

"I learned to walk using leg braces and a walker. When I was in elementary school, I switched to using forearm crutches."

The same problem with every brand

"Over the years I tried out a few different brands, and all of them had the same problem; my wrists hurt."

"I used my forearm crutches for a majority of the day, which put a lot of pressure on my wrists. I tried different styles of crutches, but they didn't support my legs and back like forearm crutches do, so I lived with it."

Finding in-Motion

"During high school, my mom saw someone using in-Motion forearm crutches, and asked where he got them. She ordered me a pair, and I haven't used anything else since."

"Due to the spring in the base of the crutches, my wrists don't hurt anymore, and my shoulders are significantly less tight than they used to be."

"With the other crutches I used, my arms would slide out of the cuffs, but not with in-Motion forearm crutches."

Six years later

"It's been six years, and I still haven't found a problem with them! Totally worth the switch!"
